Verbier Chalet

Valais, Switzerland.
Residential Renovation.
Completed December 2022.

Set amid the sunny, snow-covered pitched roofs of Verbier township, this renovation transforms an outdated chalet apartment into a rustic yet modern mountain retreat.

Internally, the spaces are carefully reworked to offer a greater sense of openness while retaining the cosy, humble characteristics of a mountain chalet. Emphasising comfort and timelessness, the interior palette brings together hardy natural materials and local craftsmanship. Raw oak panelling, soft eggshell plaster and wrought iron details create a materially rich yet soft atmosphere.

Working with a client with a strong appreciation for vintage design furniture and objects, the project draws on a history of mountain aesthetics and french design. Selected key pieces furnish the interior in rich materials and textures complementing the calm, warming experience of the space.

Light spills through the doorway into this atmospheric and calming bedroom in the alps
Brushed oak cabinetry wraps the beds, creating a cozy atmosphere and functional storage
Soft light on plastered walls in this calming oak-clad study tucked into the corner of a chalet in verbier.
An oak lined entry passage sets the tone, with storage nooks for ski gear and coats
Dornbracht tapware and Mutina ceramic tiles give a soft elegance to the otherwise refined rustic chalet interior
